Chandrababu Naidu invites Honda to set up plant in AP

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday invited Japanese automobile giant, Honda Motor Company to set up a plant in Andhra Pradesh.

On the third day of his visit to Japan, Mr. Naidu along with other members of A.P. delegation, undertook a train ride in Tokyo city and also visited the venue where the 2020 Olympic Games are scheduled to be held.

During his meeting with Shinji Aoyama, COO of Motorcyle Operations, Honda Motor Co, Mr. Naidu explained about the opportunities available for automobile manufacturing in the State and said that the auto companies could use the State as a manufacturing hub and export to Asia-Pacific region.

He said that the automobile and auto components policy unveiled by the State would allow ancillary units to function from the State and support the mother unit.

He also mentioned that Chennai-Bangalore and Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor would boost the investment potential in the State.

Mr. Naidu also met executives of JGC Corporation which operates in petroleum, power, water, new energy and industrial parks sectors. He invited the company to explore the possibility of establishing a petro-chemical corridor in the State while pointing to the presence of huge gas and energy reserves in Krishna-Godavari basin.

Responding to Mr. Naidu’s suggestion, JGC Corporation head said that the company was keen on setting up a refinery and cracker unit in A.P.

An MoU was also signed between Andhra Pradesh Technology Services (APTS) Limited and National Electronics Corporation (NEC) for Safe-city project in the presence of Mr. Naidu and YosukeTakagi, State Minister for METI.
