Trinamool Congress (TMC) president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made an appeal to the electors of Delhi to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
"Delhi election (is) on 7. My request to all of you in Delhi (is) to please vote for AAP. For the greater need of the country and development in Delhi," she said on Thursday, only a couple of days before the Delhi poll.
The bonhomie between AAP and the TMC is evident in recent weeks. Some of the AAP members, including Meera Sanyal, the former CEO and Chairperson of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), attended the two-day business summit in Kolkata to attract investment. Reportedly, she also met the Chief Minister.
Interestingly, TMC and Ms. Banerjee’s key rival in the State – Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) – has also asked its members to vote for the AAP in the 55 Assembly segments of Delhi where the Left has not fielded any candidates, to ensure AAP’s victory.
