Chennai: Tamil Nadu's education department has ordered over 3 lakh text books of class XI to be recalled after the name of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M Karunanidhi was listed as the state Chief Minister in its preface instead of J Jayalaithaa.
Around 2.5 lakh class 11 economic texts books were recalled while 70,000 history books were withdrawn after the goof up was spotted.
The preface of the textbooks had not been changed since 2011 and no one noticed the error in 4 years.
However, officials claim that it is not a printing error. The preface of the textbooks has not been changed since 2011 and no one had noticed the error in 4 years.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief J Jayalalithaa had taken over as the Chief Minister of the state in 2011. But in 2014, she was forced to resign from the top post after being convicted of holding unaccounted cash and property. Her loyalist O Panneerselvam had taken over as the CM after she resigned from the post.
Recently after the Karnataka High Court dismissed all cases against her and acquitted her in a 19-year-old multi-million disproportionate assets case, Panneerselvam resigned as soon the CM paving way for the AIADMK chief to reclaim her throne. She took oath as the CM of the state on May 23, 2015 for the fifth time.
