The state government is proposing to issue Food Security Cards to all eligible families to enable them to draw six kilo rice per month at `1 per kilo from January.
All eligible families should cooperate with the verification officers by providing correct information and necessary supporting documents so that cards are issued to them.
To ensure that the exercise of verification, issue of cards and to position stocks in the fair price shops by January, commissioner of civil supplies C Parthasarathi held a video conference with collectors, joint collectors, district supply officers, district managers of Civil Supplies Corporation, district informatic officers of NIC and others on Monday to discuss Food Security Cards to all eligible families.
Parthasarathi said since the collectors have informed that around 80 per cent of applications received have been verified, they should complete the entire verification process before December 20 so that all arrangements could be made for release of rice from January.
