The High Court issued notices to the Reliance Industries and Mukesh Ambani in a criminal petition filed against orders passed by the Special Judicial First Class Magistrate for Prohibition and Excise, Kakinada in East Godavari district. Justice U Durga Prasad Rao was dealing with a plea by Chekka Durgamba from Kakinada challenging the lower court order stating that the trial court had not taken cognizance of her plea against Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani and others in a criminal case lodged by her.

Petitioner’s counsel S Rajkumar submitted that Reliance had taken over the petitioner’s land in Tallarevu through fraudulent methods. Earlier, a lower court granted a decree in her favour and the civil court handed over possession of the land to her in the presence of revenue and police authorities. But Reliance purchased the land from those who were defeated in court against her.
