Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is likely to tour Telangana in May to console the family members of farmers who ended their lives due to crop loss.

The TPCC is holding extensive discussions with senior leaders to give a shape to Rahul Gandhi’s tour and how to make it a success. The meeting of the coordination committee of the party comprising  important leaders is underway here till late in the night to take a final decision.

Rahul Gandhi, who is likely to tour in the second or third week of May, will not only console the families of farmers who committed suicide due to crop loss but will also try to explain the farmers about the ill-effects of the Land Acquisition Bill of the Centre.

The Congress wants to bring back the farmers into its fold by taking up the Land Acquisition Bill in a big way. By taking up the tour, the Congress wants to gain support of farmers exposing the failure of the TRS at the state for not coming to their rescue and also the Centre’s move to bring the Land Acquisition Bill which is detrimental to the interests of the farmers. Meanwhile, TPCC Ranga Reddy unit met here on Monday to review the party’s membership drive.
