Aadhaar EPIC seeding,Hyderabad Aadhaar EPIC seeding,Telangana,Andhra Pradesh,Ranga Reddy districts lag behind

Hyderabad:
Even as the Aadhaar-EPIC seeding crossed more than 90 per cent in most of the districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts lag behind with just 28.16 and 36.97 per cent. According to officials, during the household verification process, they are finding the doors locked in most of the houses. Though the survey is completed, door lock cases and cases of shifted households have affected the process badly in the city.

Notices are being served, but there is tepid response from the occupants of the houses. It is a long-drawn process to identify the residents, if they have shifted to some other locality or to other town. In Telangana, there are a total of 2.8 crores citizens registered in the electorate, of which 2.64 crore Aadhaar details have been collected and after verification, 1.62 crore have been linked to the EPIC (Election Photo Identity Card).

While for Andhra Pradesh, a total of 3.71 crore citizens are registered as voters, of which 3.68 crore Aadhaar details have been collected and after verification, 2.52 crore were linked to the EPIC.  As on May 20, in Telangana State, six districts, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Medak have collected Aadhaar number from 100 percent electors.

Similarly in AP, three districts - Kadapa, Krishna and Guntur - have completed the collection of Aadhaar number. “We are seeding with checks and measures, it’s not just simply linking the Aadhaar number, but we appraise the situation with the help of Booth Level Officer (BLO), ERO (Electoral Registration Officer), AERO and we check for de-duplication and then it reaches database,” said Anoop Singh, Additional Chief Electoral Officer.

It is believed that the active participation of the collectors and officials in districts, who also sent ‘vehicles with kits’ to various areas for this process paid-off. Meanwhile, the GHMC, which is responsible for the entire process of seeding in Hyderabad was preoccupied with various governmental programmes, including Swachh Hyderabad and Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

Amongst the areas, which are lagging behind in the city in terms of Aadhaar number collection is Bahadurpura (with just 49 per cent) and Chandrayangutta (with 71 per cent). The process of linking continues parallel to this, but in slow pace. Nevertheless, the problem of those who are yet to receive Aadhaar card remains unresolved.
