A day after Indian Administrative Service officer DK Ravi was found dead in his home in Bengaluru, Kolar district in Karnataka has come to a standstill. Many groups have called for a bandh in the district where the IAS officer had served as the Deputy Commissioner. Class 12th Board exams have also been postponed due to the bandh.
Ravi, who took on the sand mafia in the district, had allegedly received threat calls before his death. While initial reports suggest it to be a case of suicide, Bengaluru Police Chief MN Reddi said that no note has been found. "We have not discovered any suicide note. He hung himself to a fan. We have not yet been able to find out visitors but prima facie, this is an incident of suicide," Reddi said.
Meanwhile, police is also trying to verify reports of unidentified men entering the IAS officer's apartment. A special team has been formed to probe the case.
Reacting to the incident, Karnataka Home Minister KJ George said, "it has to be investigated. All angles will be looked into."
Raising doubts over his death, his friends too claimed that a suicide looks unlikely. "He is very tough person. I have my serious doubt about his death," his friend Venugopal Reddy said.
