RTC bus loses control; engineering student killed, two more injured

An engineering student was killed and two others suffered injuries in a road accident due to the negligence of an RTC driver at Ganguru on the city outskirts of Vijaywada on Friday. The mishap occurred when an APSRTC bus driver lost control over the vehicle and hit traffic, mob on the road before ramming in to the pavement.

The deceased was a second year engineering student at a college in Paritala of Krishna district identified as Kommukuri Rufas Steven. Police who rushed to the spot informed that the APSRTC bus was heading towards Vijayawada from Machilipatnam but lost control once it reached Ganguru.

Penamaluru inspector Jagan Mohana Rao stated that Steven who was riding the motorcycle in the same direction was hit by the bus. While Steven suffered severe injuries and lost his life on the spot, the bus which continued to hit other pedestrians on the road injured two more and damaged few vehicles in the accident. The injured treated at Kankipadi Hospital are out of danger.

The bus driver responsible for the accident immediately absconded from the spot but was taken into police custody later. He blamed the steering failure as the cause for losing control over bus but the police the reason claimed by driver might be to escape punishment.
