The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to commence online “darshan” of Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.
For this, a dedicated website of the famous Lord Shiva temple is being prepared that would also inform people about its history.
At a recent meeting that reviewed financial and administrative working of the temple, it has been decided to begin online “darshan” facility from next month, while online advanced booking of special prayers at the temple like the “mangla aarti” would also be started. This would facilitate a large number of devotees across India and world, who will also be able to make donations online, government sources said.
The State government has also set up a committee that would study management skills of temples such as the one at Tirumala and Sai temple at Shirdi for increasing income and best practices that would be later implemented at Kashi Vishwanath.
The increased amount will be used to improve services and facilities at the temple for devotees.
Beautification drive
Currently, the annual collection of Kashi Vishwanath temple is over Rs.5 crore. The meeting also decided to begin beautification drive of the temple premises.
All overhead wires would be removed while more cameras would be installed on the premises to boost security and enable better crowd management. For daily and better maintenance, the temple committee has been asked to outsource work and not to depend solely on government workers, sources added.
