Hyderabad: The famed Nizam jewellery which was to be displayed in Hyderabad but got stalled for the lack of a proper site and security, is now back in the reckoning.
The Telangana government is eyeing these jewels in the custody of the Centre and stashed in RBI vaults. Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly held a preliminary discussion with senior officials and others and the matter will be pursued with the Centre shortly, it is learnt.
It also came up during discussions on skyscrapers with famous architect Hafeez Contractor. Salarjung Museum authorities were also consulted. “We had a preliminary discussion on the issue.
We are looking at various ways and means, including the legal position to get the jewellery to Hyderabad for permanent display,” a senior Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) official said.
