GUNTUR: A stalker tried to kill a woman on the refusal of live-in relationship. The incident happened in the early hours at Nallacheruvu in Guntur on Friday. According to sub-inspector Pulagam Murali Krishna, both the victim Karasala Vijaya Kumari, 20, and the accused Chambeti Manikanta, 23, had a live-in relationship for about six months and recently it failed since she came to know that the accused Manikanta had a child before their relationship.
There after, she refused the relationship with Manikanta and went to live with her parents. Manikanta went to Vijaya Kumari's house at Nallacheruvu at 3 am on Friday, and dema-nded her to go with him, but she refused the proposal. Then Manikanta attempted to kill her with a knife and caused injuries to her hand and head.
When she raised an alarm, her parents and neighbours came and tried to hold him, thinking that he was either a dacoit or thief.
Manikanta tried to escape from the scene and ran away for some distance, but they were able to catch him. In this process one of the neighbours also got injured. A case was filed against Manika-nta and Vijaya Kum-ari was admitted to government hospital.
