Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday directed the state government to undertake for the present the expenses and ensure treatment to three-year- old Sammeeksha  who is suffering from a rare medical disorder called the Gaucher disease. The girl hails from Nalgonda district.

The writ petition is filed questioning the action of the authorities in not providing medical treatment of Enzyme Replacement Therapy with recombinant imiglucerase enzyme called as Cerezyme to the petitioner, to heal her "Gaucher" disease as unjust and unconstitutional  and being  in violation of  Article 21 of the Constitution of India . The drug required for the treatment is manufactured by only three companies and would entail a cost of approximately Rs three lakh every month.
