A popular news channel based in Mumbai has published a story about the scam of 271 crores, done by Telangana state government while purchasing vehicles for police. Reportedly, the contract was taken by Himanshu Motors which belongs to KTR, son of Telangana CM KCR and Venkaiah Naidu's son Harha's company, without inviting tenders.
According to the news report, Telangana government showed reports of vehicle dealerships owned by KTR and Venkaiah Naidu's son, for the purchase of 3,883 Toyota Innova cars and 2000 Honda bikes for the state police department last year.
The IG of provisioning and logistics has denied the reports and said that only 696 cars were purchased from Innova and the rest were purchased from Mahindra, Tata etc. he added that the orders were placed with the manufacturers through e-procurement system. Even KTR denied his alleged involvement in this scam.
Reportedly, Telangana police is now chalking out plans to file a defamation suit on the news channel.
