Hyderabad: Telangana Water Grid Project, the pet scheme of Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao has run into problems due to the rigid norms linked to the tenders.
The Government has called for tenders to implement the project and received bids from inexperienced and small contractors as big and high flying contractors could not participate in the bids following their failure to meet the rules fixed by Government.
The tender-rules barred loan defaulting-contractors and contractors who have applied for corporate debt restructuring from participating in the bids.
Due to this , mostly small time contractors and freshers had participated in the bids. However, a shocked government had cancelled all those bids as it had no confidence on them.
Following this, big contractors, mostly defaulters , have asked the government to relax the rules so that they can submit bids and successfully complete the project.
The Government is committed to complete the project before the next assembly elections. It may be recalled that KCR had announced in the assembly that TRS would not seek votes in the next elections if Government fails to complete the project by that time and supply drinking water to all house holds.
To ensure its completion, Government may relax these rules paving the way for big contractors to submit their bids.
