HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed Telangana Home department to produce all records pertaining to the suicide of research scholar Rohith Vemula of Hyderabad Central University (HCU), by February 17. Justice P V Sanjay Kumar was dealing with a writ petition filed by Podile Appa Rao, vice-chancellor of HCU, seeking quashing of the case registered against him at Gachibowli police station on the charge of abetting suicide of Rohit Vemula.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the alleged attack on ABVP leader Susheel Kumar by members of Ambedkar Students’ Association and subsequent suspension of Rohith Vemula had taken place prior to the petitioner taking charge as vice-chancellor. Justice Sanjay Kumar then asked the counsel for Home department to produce the records and suicide letter.
