'Make in India' a big brand both within and outside the country, says Modi

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said Make in India has become a big brand both within and outside the country.

"Please see for yourself the direction India is taking. Make in India has become a big brand both within and outside India," Prime Minister Modi said while inaugurating the Make in India Week.

Prime Minister Modi while addressing the gathering at the National Sports Club of India in Mumbai's Worli to formally launch the 'Make in India Week', said India is perhaps the most open country for FDI.

"Our FDI inflows have risen since our Government took office," he added.

"I am delighted to be a part of these celebrations. I welcome you all to Mumbai, the commercial capital of India. I recall the aspirations of the youth when I recall the launch of Make in India. Youthful energy is our greatest strength," Prime Minister Modi said.

The Prime Minister further said his government wants to make India a global manufacturing hub.

Government delegations from 49 countries and business delegations from 68 countries are slated to take part in the event.

Seventeen state exhibitions and several country pavilions have been built at the 20,000 sq m centre. The country pavilions include exhibitions from Sweden, Germany and South Korea.

The Make in India Week is aimed at showcasing to the world the achievements of the nation in the manufacturing sector and promote India as a preferred manufacturing destination.

Over the course of the week, it will offer access, insights and opportunities to connect and collaborate with India and global industry leaders, academicians, central and state administrations.
