The BC Welfare Association national president and MLA, R. Krishnaiah warned the Government that his association would give State bandh call in the first week of next month if it failed to release pending scholarship and fee reimbursement amounts to students immediately.
In the next couple of days the association would hold all party meeting inviting BC elected representatives to chalk out a plan to bring pressure on the Government which he said was going against the interests of BCs who constituted more than half of the population in the society.
To begin with, all roads leading to the State capital would be closed by squatting on them, he said.
Attending the BC Students’ Shankaravam here on Saturday, Mr. Krishnaiah accused the Government of neglecting the issues of Backward Classes. It did not want BCs to pursue education therefore was not releasing scholarships and fee reimbursement despite the struggles waged by them day in and day out, he said.
Mr. Krishnaiah said that the next phase of agitation would be so severe that the Government would learn a lesson from it.
This time the movement would be ten times stronger than that of the movement waged for separate Statehood for Telangana, he said.
He criticized that the Government was not following the principles of democracy and therefore its head was announcing sops to individuals of his choice to woo voters of their sections.
The association State president Jajula Srinivas Goud sought to remind that the Telangana State was carved out with the sacrifices made by students belonging to the oppressed sections, but the power in the new State was being enjoyed by landlords and upper caste leaders.
The BC students were suffering without jobs and education, he said and wanted to know whether they achieved Telangana for these woes?
The BC association leaders Narala Sudhakar and P. Lakshminarayana also spoke. The BC students’ association district president Srinivas Goud presided over the meeting which demanded the immediate release of Rs.1,200 crore pending fee amount.
