Thanu Nenu, introducing late director Shobhan's son, Santhosh Shobhan, co-starring Avika Gor, directed by Ram Mohan created a good buzz among moviegoers, with stars like Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Ravi Teja etc promoting the film extensively. Read the review to know if the film lived up to the positivity.

Story:

Kiran (Santhosh Shoban) hates NRIs and the whole idea of going abroad to make better living as he think its only a compromising life there. He mistakenly falls in love with Keerthi (Avika Gor), who's only aim in life is to go to US and earn lots of money for her dad. Keerti's father, Sarveswara Rao (Ravi Babu) tries to get married her to an NRI, knowing Kiran and Keerthi's love story. How did love develop amidst these complexities? Will the heroine sacrifice her goals for hero or is it the other way round? forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Debutante Santhosh was good enough with his body language, diction, dialogue delivery and traits but he was little amateur in comedy scenes and songs. Otherwise, the young lad makes an impressive debut. Avika Gor though was brilliant in her role, she felt monotoneous since she has being playing same kind of roles these days. Ravi Babu played well as a crooked father, still keeping alive the funny side of his. But he was loud at times.

Plus Points:

Santosh Shobhan impresses with his debut film. The young actor showcases good emotions and is also good in the comedy department. His dialogue delivery is neat and if planned well, he can go a long way in his career.

Avika Gor is also good in the film. Her chemistry with Santosh is decent as the pair look quite convincing on screen. First half of the film is quite breezy with an interesting interval point.

The way friendship between youngsters and NRI relationships have been showcased needs a special mention. Even though Ravi Babu is good, his role was short lived.

Minus Points:

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film was the lack of emotions during the second half. After wrapping up the first half with quite an interesting interval bang, the director lets go off the proceedings in a silly way.

There are certain scenes and situations during the second half which are a huge let down. Also, the way Ravi Babu’s character is ended and the emotions showcased post that incident lack maturity.

Entertainment value is slightly less during the second part. Tanu Nenu will appeal only to the youth and multiplexes.

Technical Aspects & Analysis:

Thanu Nenu, directed by producer turned director Ram Mohan, perfectly goes along with his earlier tasteful films, Uyyala Jampala and Ashta Chemma. The story setting and the characters were designed so simple and relatable to the present day youngsters. Its sub-plot talks about the growing craze for living in abroad and rush for the money in the corporate set up, with a breezy love tale in the forefront. Dialogues were impactful though few comedy bits felt forcibly attached. The pace of the film stands as the major drawback for the otherwise complete entertainer. Music by Sunny M R was hummable and the way the songs were picturized, makes them more special. Cinematography and production values supported the story and setting pretty well.

Verdict:

Thanu Nenu makes an entertaining watch, which you can enjoy with your complete family. It deals with some of the simplest issues that are disturbing our lives but doesn't get preachy at any point. The film only concentrated on telling an intriguing story without missing on the fun elements and we can say they were successful enough.
