AP Government to appoint 501 doctors on contract basis

Hyderabad : The State Government has decided to appoint 501 civil assistant Surgeons on contract basis at Primary Health Centres. The Principal Secretary for Medical Health Poonam Malakondaiah has issued orders. They will be appointed for a period of one year. They will be paid salaries in line with the G.O.No.217 issued in 2011 said the orders. Out of these, 472 doctors will be appointed in Primary Health Centres while 29 in Vaidya Vidhana Parishad hospital. District Collector will be the Chairman for selection board, while District Medical Officer will act as convener and the Superintendent of Medical college will be the member. Orders for appoint of 16 managers to man 15 major hospitals before the end of March.

In another move, the State Government plans to terminate the services of the doctors who were on unauthorized leave or those in leave for over one year form the service. The decision came following the vigilance and Enforcement that submitted a report to the government that 600 doctors were either working in private hospitals or running clinics/nursing homes. They were already issued charge memos. The government also decided to terminate the services of the doctors who have not given options to the Kamalanathan Committee. Sources said that over 30 doctors have not given their options.
