LIVE UPDATES: India pays tribute to martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti on Republic Day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the nation on the 67th Republic Day, which is being celebrated amid heightened security in the wake of the terror threats from outfits like ISIS.

French President Francois Hollande will be the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital as President Pranab Mukherjee will unfurl the Tricolour at the Rajpath.

There are many firsts as well for the Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath, such as parade by a dog contingent after a gap of 26 years and a tableau from the Election Commission.

Here are the highlights:



# 127-year-old Garhwal Rifles, which participated in both the wars, march ahead at Rajpath.

# The Corps of Signal, which has been decorated with several gallantry honours, march at Rajpath.

# Akash, the first indegenously developed weapon system, displayed. Akash participated in 1965 and 1971 wars.

# Mighty Brahmos missiles displayed at Rajpath

# Tank T-90 Bhishm, Indian Army's main battle tanks, displayed at Rajpath. It can fire four types of ammunition.

# French Army contingent, led by a military band, march at Rajpath.

# Commander Lt General Rajan Ravindran leads Republic Day parade.

# First formation of four MI-17 V5 choppers showers petals, greeting spectators

# President awards Ashok Chakra to Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami posthumously
