New Delhi: It was an all-out attack on the Congress by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he spoke on Motion of Thanks in Lok Sabha on Thursday. From quoting former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi to taking jibes at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Modi did not miss any chance to hit out at the Opposition.
Lamenting on the disruptions and adjournments in Parliament, Modi blamed the Congress for not discussing issues concerning the country. Invoking Rajiv Gandhi to mock Congress for disrupting Parliament, Modi said, "House is a place where debates are to take place, but if boundaries are maintained during a debate then it's fruitful. This is not what I say but this is what former PM Rajiv Gandhi said."
While Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that Modi did not consult senior ministers in his Cabinet to take decisions, the PM hit back at him claiming that some people did not know about things. "Some people just age but do not mature, they protest just for the sake of protesting and do not understand issues," he said.
Modi also retaliated to Congress's claims that NDA government is renaming the old policies and launching them under its own name. "You say the GST Bill was brought by you, so why don't you help us in passing it. You mock the Make in India scheme but why are you not helping us make it successful," Modi asked.
Slamming the Congress for disrupting Parliament and stalling bills, he said the main opposition party was doing so because of "inferiority complex" of its top leaders.

Talking about MNREGA he said, "If Congress would have worked for the development of the poor, we would not have needed a policy for people to dig roads and get employment. We would not have needed MNREGA if there was no poverty. We are working to improvise on the policies for betterment."
Quoting reports and figures, Modi claimed that the country has done well during the year gone by under the NDA government. He also claimed that he is not being criticised for the work not done but is being targeted for doing things right. "The problem is not that things are not being done, the Opposition's problem is that we are doing better than them. It is your bankruptcy that you have nothing to say. NDA government has shown the way how a functioning government can serve the people and there has been a progress in every sector with good results," he said.
"More than criticism, I'm facing allegations. I have learnt to live with it," the nonchalant PM added.
With an aim to improve the functioning of Parliament, the members of the House need to discuss and have debates on issues concerning the country. ""We have taken Parliamentary proceedings to such a stage that the government machinery does not take it seriously. We blame each other and throw barbs at each other, but due to this the government officers have lost accountability. I do not blame anyone but we are more concerned about getting published in newspapers next day and getting coverage in media. We need to break out of this system. All of us have to work together and think of increasing the accountability of the executive," he said.
