Congress, TRS leaders trade war of words

Nalgonda: The war of words between the Congress and TRS leaders continue to heat up the politics in the district. Reacting to the challenge made by the former Congress MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah for the resignation and re-election of the Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, Chityal ZPTC Chevuru Ravi said that he was ready to resign his post if Chirumarthi Lingaiah had guts to win an election against him as ZPTC.

He dared the former Congress MLA to win against him as ZPTC from Chityal and later talk about the resignations of Jagadish Reddy and Veeresham. “If Chirumarthi Lingaiah was ready to accept my challenge, I would resign to my post immediately,” he added. Narketpally Mandal Parishad President Regatte Mallikarjun Reddy alleged that Chirumarthi Lingaiah has encroached on the land of the graveyard at Narketpally and managed to register it in the name his father when he was MLA.

He has purchased 20 acres land at his native place Brahmanavellamala with the money he got by selling the encroached land. He dared the former Congress MLA for an open debate on the matter at Narketpally. Senior TRS leader M Sambaiah alleged that Komatireddy brothers and Chirumarthi Lingaiah had swindled Rs 22 crore in the name of contract for Pilaipally and Dharma Reddy canal construction works by creating a bogus company Deepika Constructions.

Countering the comments made by TRS leader, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) official spokesperson Ponna Kailash urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao not to encourage ‘Rayalaseema faction culture’ in the district. The attacks on Opposition party leaders by TRS men were spoiling the peaceful and friendly political atmosphere in the district, he lamented.

He demanded the TRS leaders that they stop indulging in making irrelevant comments against Komatireddy brothers. Speaking to the media, Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy advised the TRS leaders not to set wrong traditions and practices in the district politics. He urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to control his party’s elected representatives who were behaving in a harsh manner. He said that the challenges for resignations and re-elections would only result in unnecessary wastage of public money on the by-elections.
