Vijayawada: The state government plans to start the City Security Wing in Vijayawada soon. According to sources, the Wing will be responsible for providing security cover to VIPs who visit the city.

The number of VIPs visiting the city has increased dramatically in the recent past, especially after it was selected as the capital. Among the regular visitors to the city is the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues, besides other VIPs.

In this backdrop, the police department had requested the state government to set up the City Security Wing.
