Drunken youth rams car into wall killing two of his friends

Hyderabad: Two of nine persons travelling in a Mahindra Verito car died while the remaining sustained grave injuries after the vehicle rammed into a roadside wall at Chaderghat in the early hours of Thursday. The victims were identified as Varun Muthyala, a degree student, resident of Afzalgunj and Narender, resident of Habsiguda, both in their 20s. Vaishnav, who was driving the car, along with his friends was returning home after distributing wedding cards of his elder brother’s marriage when the accident occurred around 2.20 am, Sultanbazar ACP Ravula Giridhar said.

Vaishnav and his friends partied till late in the night and started for their houses in the car. “Vaishnav claimed that he turned the car to give way to a tipper coming from behind and lost control over the steering wheel. It took an unexpected swerve causing the car to ram into the wall of a concrete structure near Saibaba temple on Afzalgunj-Chaderghat stretch,” the ACP said. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were sitting in the front on left side and the driver was in an inebriated condition.  

The injured - Prasanth, Shiva, Bhaskar, Balli, Akash and Kaushik- were rushed to Osmania General Hospital. However, doctors attending at the hospital said the condition of one of them is critical. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
