New Delhi: After Jitender Singh Tomar, who had to resign as Delhi law minister after his arrest in a fake degree case, another Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA is also accused of using a forged academic degree in his election affidavit.

Surender Singh, who represents the Delhi Cantonment constituency, is now accused by a BJP leader of ‘misrepresenting’ himself before Election Commission to be a 2012-batch graduate from Sikkim University.

The allegation has been levelled by BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar on the basis of an RTI reply given by the cartier replica watches store varsity to one Mukesh Sharma.

"As per the academic record of the year 2014-15 and all the past academic years, there is no student by the name Shri Surender Singh, S/O Shri Sher Singh, R/O Village Chhara, District Jhajjar, Haryana registered for the course of Bachelor of Arts (BA) in any of the departments of Sikkim University or its affiliated colleges," the university said in the RTI response, which has been accessed by Firstpost.

Singh is a former National Security Guard (NSG) command, while Tanwar had unsuccessfully contested on BJP ticket against Singh from Delhi Cantonment.

In his complaint to the Delhi Police, Tanwar said if Singh was serving in the NSG till 2011, then it is beyond comprehension that he would have graduated or undertaken and completed his alleged BA course in the year 2012.

"By making wrong declaration in the election affidavit, he had violated Representation of the People’s Act 19," the complaint said.

The police have launched a probe into the matter.

"A written complaint in this regard was filed by Tanwar at Delhi Cantonment police station on 1 June. A police team has left for Sikkim University to verify documents with the authorities concerned. The probe will proceed based on the findings," a senior police official told Firstpost.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay declared that the “crimes committed by Tomar and Singh are similar”.

“Jitender (Tomar) began practising in the Delhi High Court on the basis of a forged law degree and Singh became a teacher in a government school on the basis of fake bachelors and masters degrees. As the Bar Council of Delhi filed an FIR against Tomar for submitting a fake LLB degree, the education department of should Haryana should also file an FIR against Singh so that he can be be arrested and brought to book like his senior party colleague,” Upadhyay told Firstpost.

Upadhyay demanded that the EC and the Kejriwal government in the city should cancel the Assembly membership of the two leaders because they have “brought down the sanctity of the temple of democracy”.

The AAP has, however, come out in defence of its MLA saying that the matter was in court.

"We will not start reacting to every complaint that comes against an MLA. The matter is in court and it is for Singh to explain satisfactorily that his papers are in place,"  a party spokesperson told the Economic Times.

Singh has claimed that he had done his course from the Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in omega replica watches for sale Management which is being probed on charges of distributing 'illegal degrees'.
