While the whole business community across nation is all praise for Arun Jaitley's Budget 2015, its biggest stumbling block seems to be that people of AP and Telangana, including its business communities, are not so happy. Although Jaitley's cut in 5% of Corporate Tax is welcome move, but the business community feels overall budget is falling short of expectations with regards to allocations for both the states.
"The whole country was expecting a big bang Budget. It was not to be. FTAPCCI feels that the Finance Minister has given a direction, which will increase development and growth in the country in a phased manner i.e. in the next 2-3 years, rather than being a big bang Budget," Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) released a statement.
"Five new Ultra Mega Power Projects, each of 4000 MW on plug and play mode is welcome step. For Andhra Pradesh and Telangana there is no specific allotment except IIT for AP and development of Qutub Shahi tombs," it added.
Many business persons in AP and Telangana are unhappy as they expected some budgetary allocation to support the incentives promised through state reorganisation act which are not fulfilled. While another section opined that the budget is encouraging to start-up and SMEs, they too pointed out that increase in Service Tax from 12.36% to 14% is disappointing.
