Realty hit by TRS rule: Naidu

Real estate business in Hyderabad fell beyond expected levels due to the policies of TRS government, alleged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.  Participating in the debate over a resolution on ‘New capital city at Amaravati- Challenges ahead’ at the party’s conclave-Mahanadu here on Thursday, he said, “Hyderabad city has grown by leaps and bounds and now stands at 135th place in the world. This is totally because of our effort and not that of the TRS or the Congress. The real estate business increased enormously. But after the bifurcation and the TRS coming to power, the situation has changed. The policies have not supported realty,” he said. As a result, all sections including the workers have lost their livelihood and develomnet has gone back”.

Stating that TDP governemnt is committed to build world-class capital at Amaravati, Mr Naidu defended roping in expertise from Singapore and Japan. “They are supporting us free of cost. They are giants in manufacturing sector. We are a baby in the field. What’s wrong in taking their help?” he asked. Singapore government told us when they were giving the copy of Master Plan that the proposed capiatal would be better than even Singapore city since we have an advantage in the form of river Krishna, he said. We are trying to rope in the best city developers of the world for the construction, he averred.

Targetting YSRC, Naidu said the party has whipped up farmers and hatred against the governemnt. “Even AICC chief Sonia Gandhi has also opposed Tullur as Capital city area. But we though it fit because of centrality of location and it is equidistant for all the people of 13 disticts. I call upon all to participate in the construction of capital wholeheartedly. Brick by brick, rupee by rupee they can contribute and help build a truly people’s capital” he said.

“YSRC has tried to tarnish our image saying that the proposed date of June 6 as inauspicious. Those who are obstructing the capital want were rakshasas (devils) and their motto is that we should not succeed in our ventures. They even went viral and resorted to false propaganda against the muhurat. We discussed with everyone and finalized it. I want you to fire anyone who block the capital construction activity or related things like a bullet ” he said .

Sravan Kumar, MLA of the capital region explained that the selection of location has been done with everyone’s accetance. Administrative feasibility is the main criterion for us, he said. Vasupalli Ganesh, Nannapaneni Rajakumari supported the resolution. B Narsimhulu, a leader from Mahbubnagar has also supported the resoultion saying that AP needs a world class capital.

TD not to change its party logo:

The Telugu Desam’s symbol and name will not change although it has become a national party now, according to Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, senior leader and key man in the policy-making. “For a party to become a national party, it should contest in four states, have a minimum of 6 per cent vote share. We are going to contest in the neighbouring states and are confident of getting the requisite vote share. With regard to our symbol, no party in the south has cycle as a symbol. Although Samajawadi Party has it, it is confined to northern and eastern India,” he said.

Some of the candidates who contested under Samajwadi banner were not alloted the symbol and they were independents only. So, in South India, our symbol (cycle) is protected and we will continue to have it. Althogh the newly-forming Janata Parivar is trying for that symbol, it cannot be given since Samajawadi party, which has already that symbol, is part of the Parivar. In any case, in South, we will get that symbol” he told a select group of journalists who interacted with him at the Mahanadu venue.

On the name change issue, Mr Ramakrishnudu said “some people have suggested that the name be changed as Bharata Desam. But we have decided not to change”. He has also said that Mr Chadrababu Naidu will be declared as party Central Committee chief at 4:15 pm on Friday.
