AP Govt planning to boost Tourism by forming CCDMC
In a significant move, the Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet has decided to float a quasi-government company called ‘Capital City Development and Management Company’ (CCDMC). Addressing a press con ference here , State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Naryana said the newly-formed company would look after the development of infrastructure, transportation like railway, roads, government buildings, public utilities like drainage system, waste management and the like within the 225 sq km area.
The new company would act as an implementing entity of the Master Plan within the limits of the Capital City Area (CCA) under the Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA). The new entity would in turn execute the works either by roping in the government agencies or private entities in executing the development of the CCA. In another key move, Vijayawada and Mangalagiri civic bodies would be merged with the CCA.
Thus this would expand the total jurisdiction of the CCA from the present 225 Sq Km to 370 Sq Km, the minister clarified. Apart from this, a six-member team consisting irrigation and CRDA officials would be visiting to Singapore to inspect an existing model there, so as to replicate or look for a better model in augmenting and storing 3 tmcft of water flowing in Kondaveeti Vagu, having 400 sq kms catchment area. This stored water would be utilised to meet the needs of CCA, Narayana said.
