BJP coming closer to YSRCP?
At a time when the BJP and its ally, the TDP, have differences of opinion on the issue of Central assistance being granted to Andhra Pradesh, the saffron party in the state appears to be gradually leaning towards the YSR Congress (YSRC).
Lending credence to the argument that the BJP is slowly becoming closer to the YSRC, saffron party’s floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju played a key role in making the lone Opposition in the AP Assembly, the YSRC, in withdrawing its no-trust motion moved against Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao.
While speaking in the Assembly on Friday, YSRC chief Jagan announced that his party was taking back the no-trust motion moved against the Speaker as they were hoping that the Speaker would allot sufficient time for the YSRC in the Assembly in the coming days to air its views on people’s issues. Interestingly, Jagan further said the YSRC was withdrawing its motion at the behest of BJP floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju as he had assured the party that the Speaker would address the ir concerns appropriately.
Sources in both the YSRC and the TDP disclosed that BJP’s Vishnukumar Raju played a key role in bringing a truce between the treasury benches and the lone Opposition with a compromise formula. That is, sparing the nine YSRC members from suspension which was already done on Thursday. In order to reciprocate this gesture, the YSRC reportedly withdrew its no-trust motion against the Speaker that too as per the guidance of the BJP MLAs, which was acknowledged by Jagan.
