Hyderabad: Within hours of Telangana State Council of Higher Education chairman Prof T. Papi Reddy releasing the dates for the CET exams, AP education minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and complained that TS had violated the bifurcation Act.
The AP council had stated that its schedule would be applicable to both states since the APSCHE is the ‘competent authority’ to conduct Cets for both the states as per the AP Reorganisation Act.
TS rejected the argument and offered to conduct common Cets. Prof Papi Reddy said since APSCHE had failed to respond on TS’s offer of common Cets, they were forced to come out with own schedule.
“It was the APSCHE which flouted the norms by announcing Cets schedule unilaterally without consulting TS. We have the power to conduct our own Cets. The AP Reorganisation Act talks only about common admissions and not common Cets. We will offer 15 per cent seats in unreserved quota, which is open for all. However, AP students have to write the CETs conducted by TS to seek seats under this 15 per cent quota,” said Prof Reddy
“The TSCHE has no powers to conduct CETs as per the Act. We already complained to the Centre against TS over this issue. We brought to the notice of Governor also. We are awaiting response from the on this,” said Mr Rao.
