In an unfortunate incident, two boats were collided in the dark Hussainsagar waters on Saturday evening killing a 22-year-old girl who had gone for boating in the lake. Bakhtawar Rana, a Wipro employee residing in a working women hostel in Gachibowli, had come to Lumbini park along with three of her friends to spend the weekend. They boarded a speedboat to take a trip in the lake. However, the mishap took place when the speedboat hit a mechanised launch coming in the opposite direction. Bakhtawar sat on the left side of the boat, the part which struck the launch. She suffered grievous injuries as her neck got smashed against a sharp edge on the boat.

She was brought to the shore and rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police have booked case on the speed boat driver Shiva Koti under Section 304 A of the IPC for negligence causing death. Police are probing the matter and also checking if the driver held a valid licence.

Bakhtawar Rana hail from Dhanbad of Jharkhand. She had been living in Hyderabad for the last few months.
