Karimnagar: With a view to impart scientific training to the people in motor vehicle driving, International Drivers’ Training Institute, is joining hands with renowned vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland to set up a renowned institute in the district. Already, 20 acres of land has been identified at Mandepalli village of Sircilla mandal, for this purpose. Apparently, it’s going to be `first’ international Driver Training Institute in the two Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
- District Collector gives nod to allot 20 acres
- Thousands of drivers can upgrade their skills
A private vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leland is going to establish the institute. Representatives of the Institute also inspected the site on Wednesday last and expressed complete satisfaction. Deputy Transport Commissioner, E Meera Prasad accompanied the team. District Collector has already given his consent for a total of 25 acres land available in survey no 377 in Mandepalli village.
Out of which, five acres would be allocated for the establishment of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and the remaining 20 acres would be used to set up driver training institute (DTI). Based on the district administration’s consent, Ashok Leyland team also visited the site, a senior Road and Transport Authority officer revealed on condition of anonymity.
They would complete all the ground work within 18 months after the land was handed over to them, team members said. Since thousands of unemployed youth from the north Telangana districts are migrating to Gulf counties in the search of employment, DTI would help them to settle in driving field in UAE, a senior RTA officer opined.
Speaking to The Hans India, DTC, Meera Prasad said that the process is just in the initial stage. However, said that 80 percent of the road accidents are taking place due to unskilled driving, so he felt that there would be a possibility to contrail road accidents by imparting professional training to drivers. Even though, there are seven heavy and 53 light vehicle driving schools in the district, but their coaching, hasn’t been up to the mark, officials added.
Ashok Leyland, which is already running six DTIs in the country including Namakkal (Tamil Nadu), Burari (Delhi), Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), Kaithal (Haryana), Bhubaneswar (Orissa) and Railmagra (Rajasthan), is going to setup seventh institute in the newly formed Telangana state. DTI will be equipped with contemporary vehicles, road and terrain of every conceivable configuration, modern infrastructure including a state-of-the-art driving simulators and a scientifically designed curriculum.
