India's most talked about couple, Virat Kohli and his B-town girlfriend Anushka Sharma have returned home a day after Team India went down to a 95-run defeat to host nation Australia in the World Cup semifinal.

The defeat in the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 did not go down too well with a few fans, as they took to the streets and resorted to burning effigies of Anushka, blaming her for Virat's poor performance.

The two, who made headlines last year when they admitted to being in a relationship, was trolled unabashedly on social media for the past two days.

Earlier in an interview the actress made it clear that her relationship with Kohli has nothing to do with their professional careers.“Why is that person a distraction? What! Because you are attaching a physical relationship? I found that extremely primitive and distasteful to use that word. That’s because of the background I come from, for me it’s like ‘who talks like that?’.”

She further said, "And then you are doubting the capability of these people who are playing since they were children, that’s all they know. If you meet these guys, they don’t know anything other than cricket. They breathe, eat, live, die cricket. So you are saying they are not capable to deal with their career. Give them credit for what they have achieved.”

t’s sad to see an entire nation gang up on a supportive girlfriend, who flew all the way to Australia from India to see her beau play. The actress definitely does not deserve this kind of disrespect.

Anushka kept fans guessing if she would, or wouldn't go for the match but soon after pictures of the star sitting in the stands turned up online, one could expect trouble.

However, the 'NH10' had some reason to smile on Friday, when most of her Bollywood friends stood up to support her and shame haters for their comments.

The two lovers walked out of the Mumbai International airport hand-in-hand and with heads held high. They did seek some help from the airport staff and guards to clear the way and allow them to get to their car.

Looks like all this hate and anger seems to have brought to two closer in their relationship.

Virat will spring back to action in the upcoming IPL, where he put on the Captain's patch for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
