Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party has won Prakasam and Kurnool MLC polls under local bodies quota.
In Prakasam district, TDP nominee Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy won with a margin of 711 votes over YSRCP candidate China Venkata Reddy.
China Venkat Reddy secured 13 votes and 17 votes were declared as invalid. It may be noted that YSRCP boycotted the polls in protest against the alleged poaching of the party local bodies representatives by TDP.
Earlier YSRCP claimed that it had a majority of 20 votes. The party alleged that TDP has weaned away its MPTCs and lodged them at camps in neighbouring states.
Magunta Srinvasulu Reddy thanked the local bodies representatives for electing him with a huge majority.
In Kurnool district, TDP contestant Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy defeated YSRCP nominee Venkateswara Reddy with a margin of 120 votes. The election witnessed a keen contest as both parties claimed majority and campaigned vigorously.
