Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana cops clashed with lathis at the Nagarjunasagar Dam on Friday evening.

In the water war for control over the dam, six to seven policemen sustained minor injuries. As series of mediation meetings failed during the day, warring police forces attacked each other with sticks.

Both AP and TS cops alleged that the other group had trespassed into their area.

AP police claimed that TS irrigation staff, along with cops, barged in forcibly to stop water being released and they tried to restrain them. The clash started at 6.30 pm and despite power being cut off, the cops continued to fight and the scene appeared like a battlefield.

Police forces lead by Miryalaguda DSP San-deep for TS and Gurajala DSP Nageswara Rao and CI Mallaiah on the AP side, led the troops in the clash.
