People of New born state of Telangana received their first shock when Telangana government decided to hike power tariff by 4.4%. The Telangana state electricity regulatory commission hiked overall tariff by 4.42 % for the 2015-2016 for the domestic consumers who consume more than 200 units per month.

Chairman of Telangana state electricity regulatory commission, Ismail Ali Khan said the Telangana Government has agreed to provide a subsidy of Rs. 4,227 crore resulting in additional revenue of Rs. 816 crore from new tariff.
