The Central Crime Station (CCS) Police on Wednesday arrested two persons on charges of stealing two-wheelers and eight more for procuring the stolen vehicles and recovered 30 bikes from their possession.
Police picked up two suspects – B. Manikanta and I. Venkata Ramana – who stole bikes from different places in the city.
Based on their confession, they arrested eight persons including motor mechanics and iron scrap traders, who had procured the stolen vehicles.
The accused used to steal bikes parked in front of houses, cinema halls and shopping complexes using duplicate keys and sell them to the mechanics used to sell the spare parts after dismantling the vehicles.
The accused would also park the stolen bikes on roadside at various points and sell them at lesser prices, said City Police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao at a press conference held here on Wednesday.
In another case, police took into custody a mason, Shaik Shafi, a juvenile, who allegedly committed thefts in several shops under the Vuyyuru police station limits.
21 kg silver seized
They recovered 21 kg of silver ornaments, 107 gram of gold jewellery, two laptops, seven mobile phones, all worth Rs. 11.55 lakh and Rs.20,000 in cash from their possession.
