Hyderabad: Urban land in Ranga Reddy district is what the TRS government is set to sell to raise money for welfare schemes.
In Hyderabad district, the government has 66 acres of litigation-free land in 16 mandals. In contrast, the government has over 1,000 acres of litigation-free land in Ranga Reddy district. Most of this is located in Hyderabad, and officials estimate the government can earn Rs 3,060 crore by selling it. Land on the outskirts could fetch another Rs 96 crore.
An official with Ranga Reddy collectorate said that 85 per cent of government land, or 923 acre, that is litigation-free, is in the mandals in Greater Hyderabad limits.
Besides, the state can retrieve over 2,000 acres of land under the urban land ceiling Act that could fetch another Rs 4,000 crore.
TS Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma has directed the district administration to list land that is available for auction and their market value.
