Aiming high to retain power in the next elections too, Telangana Rashtra Samiti president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that there was no alternative to the party in the new state. TRS would succeed in the next assembly elections as well, he added.
Addressing the first extended executive committee meeting of the TRS at a convention hall in Kompally recently, Rao said there was no future for other parties in Telangana.
Once the delimitation of new constituencies is complete after the bifurcation, the TRS was confident of winning 135-140 out of the 154 Assembly seats, he claimed. At present the Telangana Assembly has 119 seats, which will go up to 154 after delimitation.
But the Delhi Assembly Election Results 2015 might have given a shock to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. A 2 year old party AAP with not a good cadre at the grass root level grabbed 67 seats out of 70.
Till the Notification for the Delhi Assembly was announced, the chances for BJP's winning were high. But everything changed within 3 weeks of time. BJP being a nationalistic party was not able to gain seats for the Delhi assembly. The power at the centre was of no use to gain votes from the public.
If a Nationalistic party like BJP can be defeated so badly, what about a regional party like TRS?
K.Chandrasekhar Rao became Chief Minister with the Telangana (regional sentiment) sentiment. The Telangana public supported TRS in the Elections only because he fought for seperate Telangana. Though the Elections 2014 were on Telangana sentiment, the Elections 2019 would not be based on the Telangana sentiment. The elections would be totally on the development and the promises made by KCR during the Elections 2014.
KCR promised a dalit CM before the Telangana formation. But he changed his word after the formation of the state. He even removed a dalit Deputy Chief Minister from his post after inducting him into cabinet.
Many promises are made by TRS party and KCR during the Elections 2014. He was not successful in fulfilling not even half of his promises.
Many political leaders from TDP and Congress are being attracted into TRS by luring them sops. The act is to weaken the congress and TDP parties in Telangana.
Moreover, all his family members are either members of Assembly of Parliament. Some of them are even inducted into the cabinet.
Above all, his comments that no party will have future in Telangana exposes his arrogant attitude.
Regional politics by TRS, Heritage and Family politics, False Election promises to lure voters, Attracting political leaders from other parties, Making family members as Ministers, MLAs and MPs, High level of corruption in the TRS party etc may be some of the key issues for a party like AAP to defeat TRS in the Telangana.
