Hyderabad: The people in Bangaaru Telangana must be prepared to bear the burden of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation’s (TSRTC) ticket price hike very soon. The Chief Minister of Telangana K.Chandrasekshar Rao apparently gave a hint about hike while announcing the fitment to the TSRTC employees. “RTC charges may be increased somewhat. The management will look after this. RTC employees are also part of people. People should bear the charges. The increase would not terrify the citizens. The hike will increase gradually,” the CM had said. It seems that the government has given nod to hike the ticket charges.

The management of RTC earlier submitted the proposals about hiking the price of tickets. The employees had called off the strike after announcing the fitment which a hurdle for hiking the ticket price. With the government nod, the management is focusing on the price hike. The management reportedly proposed 15 per cent hike could be implemented as usual. The sub-committee of cabinet ministers has also given a report that stated considering price hike.  Overall the burden of TSRTC ticket price hike may be Rs 500 crore. Nonetheless, the government is determined to give an exemption to ordinary and express bus services.

The citizens will be bearing the burden of charges after June 2, the formation day of Telangana. “The government has suggested to the management of RTC that the hike should be 10 to 12 percent for ordinary and express services. But the prices of super express, super-deluxe, Indra, Garuda and Garuda plus bus services may be increased from 15 to 17 per cent. As already the ticket price of AC sleeper Vennela bus is more than other services so the hike will below the ten percent,” said an official in RTC.

“Increased prices of diesel extremely burdens on RTC. By the price hike of diesel barely in two weeks the RTC should have borne the burden of Rs 156 crore,” says Telangana TRC Staff and Workers Federation General Secretary V.S.Rao.
