Nalgonda: The CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram slammed Union Minister for Human Resource Development Smriti Irani for trying to divert public attention on the issues of JNU and UoH with her false statements in the Lok Sabha. He demanded to set up parliamentary committee to probe the incidents taking place in universities.
Speaking at a media conference at the party office here on Saturday, Veerabhadram strongly objected the false propaganda of the BJP leaders on the death of UoH research student Rohith Vemula. He pointed out that the police and university officials had declared that Rohith died at 7.30 am on the day.
Informing that about 23 students including 19 SC students had committed suicide in different universities in the country so far, he attributed these deaths to RSS and ABVP forces. He criticised the Modi government as afraid of discussing Rohith issue in Parliament as it would expose its hidden agenda.
The CPM leader strongly criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy for remaining silent on Rohith issue, which took place in Telangana State.
