Pursue targets with free mind: PM Modi's advice to students for exams in 'Mann ki Baat'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today shared his thoughts with the nation in the 17th edition of his Mann Ki Baat programme. In the exam season, PM Modi focused on India's youth who he said will take the country to newer heights in the coming years. Cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar and ace chess player Vishwanathan Anand also joined the PM. Here are the highlights of his monthly radio address:

1. Don't think examination as a game of numbers, your life should be linked to much larger purpose.

2. Set your targets and pursue them with a free mind, without pressure. Compete with yourself and not others.

3. Discipline is the key to strengthen the foundation of a successful life.

4. If your mind is at peace you will be able to find the treasure of knowledge and exams will become much easier for you.

5. Your mind is often entangled in the exam that is over, but don't do this. What has passed, has passed.

6. This time whatever experiences people have shared with me, many have invariably mentioned about yoga and meditation.

7. Sachin Tendulkar: Keep your thinking positive, positive results will surely follow. You should set a target for yourself and try to achieve that.

8. Vishwanathan Anand: You need to be well rested, get a good night's sleep, be on a full stomach as you prepare to appear for exam. The most important thing is to stay calm. Stay calm, don't be over confident but don't be pessimistic either.

9. Morari Bapu: Write your exam without any pressure and with a calm mind. It's not necessary that everyone is successful, learn to live with failures.

10. CNR Rao: I fully realise that examinations cause anxiety, but do not worry and do your best. There are many opportunities in this country. Decide what you want to do in life and don't give it up. I wish you luck.

11. PM Modi concluded his Mann ki Baat by talking about tomorrow's Union Budget. I have an exam tomorrow. 125 crore citizens are going to test me as the budget will be presented in Parliament, PM said.
