TDP member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Anitha today said that instead of reprimanding YSR Congress Party legislator Roja for her objectionable comments, the Leader Of Opposition and YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was wasting the precious time of the House by supporting her.
Participating in the discussion on the report of the Privileges Committee in the Assembly, Anitha said that Roja had not even apologized for her comments. And the Leader Of Opposition, instead of holding discussions on important public issues, was wasting the time of the Assembly on someone like that.
Criticising the behaviour of the YSRC member, Anitha questioned whether she (Roja) had asked any question in connection with the welfare of people of her constituency. Roja's only aim was criticising the government, she said, adding that punishment given to such a member should serve as a message for future generations.
She thus demanded stern action against Roja on the basis of the Privileges Committee recommendations, and also urged the Speaker to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
She also said that Roja had insulted her in the House in front of other members, and should apologize for that, too.
Another TDP member Shivaji said that new members should understand the rules and norms of the Assembly. No member could use unparliamentarily or objectionable words in the House, and there was nothing wrong if action against a member was taken as per the rules of the House if he/she violated the House norms.
Roja's behaviour and her gesticulation had violated all norms of the House, Shivaji alleged. And YSR Congress members were seen more in front of the Speaker's podium than in their seats, he claimed.
