Telangana MLAs to get fat pay cheques

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly on Tuesday would endorse a steep hike in the salary, allowances and pension for MLAs and MLCs when Finance Minister Etala Rajender is expected to seek approval the Budget 2016-17.

The members’ amenities committee (MAC) had recommended a whopping 400 per cent salary increase for the legislators last week.

The panel recommended a hike in the monthly salary from Rs 96,000 to Rs 3.5 lakh, house rent allowance (HRA) from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2 lakh, pension from Rs 50,000 to Rs 65,000.

The bill might be passed without any hurdles from the opposition.
