Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu organised reviews status meeting of 7 missions. In a review meeting with seven Mission Conveners at Secretariat, in horticulture, he said best practices should be incorporated which will enhance the production by 30%. He said that is the reason why Government have drip irrigation in 5 lakh acres in AP. He also suggested that tomato farmers should be encouraged to have the crop for three times a year so that they earn nearly Rs one lakh (Rs 30,000 for every crop).
In view of the increased consumption of fruits, dairy products, meat and poultry, the Chief Minister said the Primary Sector Mission head should focus on meeting the demand and educate people about the health benefits of consuming them. He directed the (Social Sector) Mission head to focus on bringing down Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate to meet the Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals. Rayalseema should be made into horticulture hub and Andhra Pradesh had the potential to become aquaculture hub, he added in this review meeting.
