Kakinada: The migration of two YSRC MLAs into TDP expected to be happen on April 11(even though all the five sitting MLAs are expected to cross over) in East Godavari, said to have had its impact on caste equations in the Godavari districts. To offset the setback, YSRCP is trying to woo Dasari Narayana Rao to strengthen its Kapu base, said YSRCP leader Chalamalasetty Sunil.
Actually, these two districts which are known as political nerve centres as far as number of MLA and MP seats are concerned for any political party, particularly those from Kapu social section.
As far as West Godavari is concerned-five MLAs, Narasapuranm Palacole, Eluru, Bhimavaram and Tadepalligudem- were elected in 2014 general elections. Out of this, four members belong to TDP and the fifth one from BJP in the form of P Manikyala Rao representing the party in State cabinet. The YSRCP virtually has no representation in the district.
In case of East Godavari, YSRCP won some seats in the last elections. There are six MLAs representing Tuni, Prathipadu, Jaggampeta Peddapuram, Ramachandrapuram and Rajamahedravaram city. Of the total six, three were bagged by YSRCP, two by TDP and one by BJP.
With twin migrations expected from YSRCP in the form of Jyotula Nehru and Varupula Subba Rao the party will be left with only one MLA from Tuni in the form of Dadisetty Raja which accounts to one member from this social section against TDP’s nine members in the two districts.
Realising the setback, YSRCP has been making hectic efforts to improve its base in two Godavari districts. As part of its strategy the party invited former union minister and prominent Kapu leader Dasari Narayana Rao to join the party from West Godavari.
According to senior YSRCP leader and Kakinada Parliamentary constituency in-charge Chalamalasetty Sunil the party leadership intends to meet former union minister from Kapu social section Konidela Chiranjeevi to take expert opinion for strengthening the party. He also said that because of unethical practices being adopted by TDP, the YSRCP is losing some MLAs. We will bounce back very soon, he added.
