Rs 20,000 Crore Taxes Due to Telangana By Top Firms

According to reports, top companies owe nearly Rs 20,000 Crore to Telangana government as they haven't paid Commercial Taxes in a while. Top oil marketing firms and the South Central Railway are said to be the biggest defaulters of Commercial Taxes to Telangana State for the past 13 years. Buzz is that the total arrears estimated nearly Rs 20,000 Crore are in pending since 2002.

In an attempt to recover the pending arrears from the defaulters, Telangana government has now constituted a special legal cell. As per the available data with CT department, Secunderabad zone owes highest amount out total arriers. Out of Rs 20,000 Crore, arrears within Secunderabad zone accounts for Rs 12,000 crore as the most of the institutions who are among defaulters are located in this zone.

South Central Railway- Rs 334 crore

Indian Oil Corporation- Rs 275 crore

Bharat Petroleum Corporation- Rs 157 crore

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation- Rs 36 crore.

Paper Products Ltd - Rs 12 crore

Godrej Consumer Products- Rs 16 crore Voltas - Rs 6 crore

Ballarpur Industries Ltd -Rs 1.5 crore
