Sunanda Pushkar death probe: Shashi Tharoor repeats she died due to medication

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Delhi Police on Saturday questioned Shashi Tharoor in connection with his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death case.

Here's all what happened

Police summoned Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and asked him questions about the source of Alprax tablets that they suspect Pushkar overdosed on.

Reportedly, throughout the probe Tharoor said he doesn't suspect foul play in death and claimed that Sunanda died due to medication.

Tharoor, who has been questioned twice earlier, answered all the questions in a calm and composed manner.

He was also questioned about the scuffle Tharoor reportedly had with his wife Sunanda Pushkar, the previous day and about the injuries that were noticed on her body.

Tharoor was also asked about the medicines taken by his wife.

Police are likely to file the final chargesheet in the case by the end of this month.

Six witnesses including Tharoor's domestic help Narayan Singh, driver Bajrangi and friend Sanjay Dewan were subjected to lie detector tests.

Earlier, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had said that Sunanda Pushkar's death was not a natural one.

The FBI lab report, had suggested that she may have died of an overdose of either anti-anxiety drug alprax or local anesthetic lidocaine. The 16-page report has said she died due to poisoning, but ruled out radioactive substances like polonium, a combination of illicit drugs, or alcohol abuse.

Strips of alprax were found near Pushkar's body by investigators following her death at a five star hotel in south Delhi on January 17, 2014.
