Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who had virtually decimated the Telugu Desam Party in Telangana, is now eyeing to weaken the Congress party through “Operation Akarsh.”
According to party sources, KCR has instructed his party seniors to lure as many Congress leaders as possible before the completion of Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations.
On Monday, there were reports that former Congress minister from Warangal Baswaraj Saraiah has decided to take a jump into the TRS. He is expected to meet KCR in a day or two.
In Khammam, too, the TRS is planning to lure the Congress leaders. Already former MLA Younis Sultan joined the TRS. There could be large scale defection of Renuka Chowdary followers shortly.
In Hyderabad, too, former Greater Hyderabad Congress president and ex-minister Danam Nagender is sending feelers to the TRS leadership expressing his willingness to join the party. So far, there is no response from KCR or KTR, sources said.
